Pregno Family Investments (Pregno) has announced a dedicated community engagement program to allow residents to comment on the Edmonton Business & Industry Park (EBIP).
The EBIP is a proposed masterplanned development with the potential to generate up to 4,000 jobs in Cairns' southern corridor.
The 212-hectare greenfield site is located 14 kilometres from the Cairns CBD and is bounded by the Bruce Highway to the west, Swallow Road to the north and Thomson Road to the south.
The EBIP will provide local jobs within the Southern Corridor, reducing travel time and costs associated with travel to employment outside the area.
Pregno Family Investments spokesperson Vanessa Maruna said the Edmonton Business & Industry Park had the potential to be one of the most significant developments in Cairns' southern corridor.
"The community consultation period provides the opportunity for the community to ask questions on the masterplan that has been developed," Ms Maruna said.
"Our aim is to meet the predicted future business and industry demand for the area with the potential to generate up to 4,000 local jobs.
"We have also completed detailed investigations and prepared a strategy to regenerate Blackfellows Creek which intersects the site, creating a 50 hectare green corridor and community recreation facilities. The creek will become a key feature of the EBIP.
"The community can provide their comment via our dedicated email address or by post.
"We are also hosting a community information session in Edmonton on the 22nd October to give the community the opportunity to ask questions in person," she said.
A community information session will be held on Wednesday 22nd October at Hambledon House, 177 Bruce Highway, Edmonton. Hosted in an "open house" format, residents can arrive at any time between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. Pregno representatives and project consultants will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have.
The community can submit feedback via email ator by post at PO Box 144, Edmonton QLD 4869. The closing date for community feedback is Friday 31st October.
Further information on the EBIP development is also available on the project website at www.ebip.com.au
The Edmonton Business & Industry Park is being developed by Pregno Family Investments – a local family-owned company. Pregno is headed by directors Alan and Margaret Savina who are third-generation cane farmers from Freshwater and Edmonton in Cairns.
